I read that the shoes were a gift from the pope's dead sister after a farmhouse landed on her. Congratulations to Ron on the adoption and successful investing.

I just wanted to let you folks know that Jeanne and I went to court this morning and the judge legally finalized Michael's adoption. He is now
officially Michael Isamu Donohue.
I wanted to share our good news with you folks.

I did the math last night and calculated the total return year to date on the portfolio that includes the WCFS funds and the return through March 31 was 13.7%.

Well, it was, after a fashion. I posted on April 1 to see if a particular message came up along with the post. Those who have been around a while may remember the message which related to an honor I received from the city of Lincoln Park.
The WCFS funds are doing well. I am trading actively in the financial sector, where volatility is allowing for short term profit taking. I do not have an exact number on the return year to date, but I know that the portfolio that the WCFS money is part of was up over 10% in the first quarter. By most standards, that qualifies as "performing well".
So, the post was on April Fool's Day, but the investment account is actually performing well.

Ron, is that an April Fool's posting?

For those who were wondering, the WCFS investment account is still performing well.

First I would like to say hello to everyone. Now and then I am able to log on at work and see what is up.
I have both some good news and some bad. First the good, I will still be able to host the Winter Camp planning meetings at my house if that is what is desired by the youth. Now the bad, I will not be able to attend this years Winter Camp due to a much needed vacation in the Western Caribbean. With some sun and fun, Scuba tanks, dolphins and, little umbrellas. I might miss Winter Camp a little. More news later. Kupser

A little prettier than the one I remember but not nearly as functional. And, of course, about 20 years late to the party.

I do note that Steve was accurate in describing the time line. Actually, the birth parents had signed their waiver of parental rights and we had signed the intent to adopt documents by 6:30. The other hour was spent traveling to where Michael was staying (hospital) and looking him over. Steve based the adoption comment on the fact that I called him and told him it "is a done deal". That is what my lawyer told us and the way it works under Florida law. So, I will let you folks know when it goes final, but for now it appears certain that a new winter camper has joined the fold.

In the interest of accuracy, we have not officially adopted Michael. That process takes 6-8 weeks after the baby is born, regardless of the efficiency of the adoptive parents. Technically, his birth parents surrendered their parental rights in favor of an adoption agency (our lawyer) and she placed Michael with us pending review by the court. For all intents and purposes, Michael is our son, but it will be a bit before it is all finalized. He is doing very well, and his big sister seems very fond of him.
