Kickball

Description: Kickball is similar to baseball except it uses a playground ball and no gloves or bats.
Basics: Essentially the same as baseball, except for two things:
if the ball is given to the pitcher before the batter reaches first base, it is an out. A runner is also out if struck by the ball.

Caveman Dinner

Description: Lights out, then eat the food using your hands. Communicate without words.
Preparation: Once cooked, food is placed in pots and taken outside for some cooling prior to eating. Food is served to individual campers using tongs; once it's on their plate, they eat it using their hands. Sometimes we leave the lights on until everyone is served, it depends on ambient light.
Basics: Lights out, then eat the food using your hands. Communicate without words. Food is meant to be eaten, not used to make a mess.

Description: The Blind Hike and more!
Basics: We pick a relatively simple task, but then try to complete it while blindfolded.

Paper Airplane Contest

Description: Participants make a paper airplane and compete in various categories.
Basics: 1) Planes must be composed primarily of paper; glue, tape, and other items are allowed
2) Categories will include: Furthest Landing, Longest Flight, Best Looking, Coolest Flight Path, Most Creative Design
3) Other categories in recognition of special achievements may be added at the sole discretion of the judges.

Description: A game of building and responsibility.
Basics: There are three teams, each of which has their own goal and building rules.
Each team has a negotiator who meets with other players to distribute resources.

Preparation: Everyone should have their sleeping area prepared before light's out. Clean off the junk on your bunk and try to minimize the noise and disturbance you'll make as you get into bed.
Basics: Participants turn off lights in the sleeping areas and prepare for bed. Those who choose not to participate must speak in hushed tones and avoid using noisy equipment.

Capture The Objective

Description: he classic Winter Camp sized game of Capture the Flag is back. Plays much like Capture the Flag except we add additional treasures to be stolen and if you're caught, it just costs your team points. After two hours of play, whichever has scored the most (or least) points is the winning team.
Basics: This game is played with points.
Getting captured costs your team points.
Stealing a treasure earns you points.
Making a capture earns points.
Stealing the objective is a lot of points.
Equipment: Objects to serve as treasure.

4-Way Volleyball

Description: 2 Nets criss-cross creating a nice X. One team is in each side and the game is played much like volleyball
Preparation: Prior to the nets erection, the field should be inspected for hazards like holes or rocks which could result in injuries. If the field can't be cleared, then a different location should be selected.
Basics: Mostly plays just like volleyball
Instructions:
  1. There are four teams instead of two, and two nets are placed across each other to form an X
  2. Scoring starts at 0 and teams get a point every time they make a mistake
  3. Score fifteen points and you're out
  4. Dead courts (areas left vacant by a team being eliminated) are out of bounds
  5. Service is by the team counter-clockwise from the team making the error
  6. We rotate courts any time any team reaches a score divisible evenly by four
  7. If there are only two teams left, they must move to diagonally opposite courts (the Haubenstricker amendment).

Snow Soccer

Description: Soccer is a game played with a round ball which is mostly kicked but can also be hit with just about any body part except the hand and arms. The goal is to put the ball in the opponent's net more often than they put it in yours before the game ends.
Basics: Players try to put the ball in the opponent's goal. They can hit or move the ball with just about any body part except their hand/arm.

Osvath Wiring Maze

Description: A confusing electrical nightmare.
Basics: A confusing electrical nightmare is created. Participants have to turn on or off a light bulb without triggering any other electrical devices connected to the maze or shocking themselves.

Ultimate Frisbee

Description: Kind of like football.
Basics: Similar to football. Teams try to pass the Frisbee to a teammate behind the enemy goal. The rules are simple. If you throw it and it isn't caught the other team picks it up where it lands. You have to stop within 3 steps of catching and you can't move if you've got it. Throwers must be given enough space to throw and must throw inside five seconds.

Time Capsule

Description: There are several parts to this activity, but the core is that we bury something and several years later we dig it up
Preparation: Campers need to be prepared for a hike on a steep slope. Equipment should be carried which allows the safe collection of candles at the end of the hike. This includes flashlights, thick gloves, and appropriate containers.
Basics: We find some items we think would be significant, including perhaps a letter to your future self. They are loaded in the capsule which is buried with some pomp and circumstance.
Hopefully 5 years later, we dig it up so you can see what you sent yourself.
