Winter Camp XXXI modified the Winter Camp Grand Prix into alignment with the Ancient Rome theme. Two teams of charioteers set out to circumnavigate D-A, and Mitchell Turcotte's blue team successfully completed the circuit. The second team threw an axle before reaching the northern boundary of Beaver Creek subcamp. During the race, a Cub Scout camp was in progress in Trout Lake subcamp. When a parent asked what was going on and was told "a chariot race", his response was "What fraternity is this?".
