Current Entry: Training
As many of the roots of Winter Camp may be traced to the three Ceremonial Training Weekends held from 1976-1978, it was not surprising to see formal training in ceremonial and other matters take place at several early Winter Camps. From the Winter Camp VII Manual:
It is the intent that each and every participant in Winter Camp should leave with a better understanding of the Arrow, along with some positive training. To accomplish this goal, we hold training sessions in several key areas. While these sessions may seem boring, they are very important, and should be treated as such.Winter Camps II-VIII included training in the "key areas" of camp promotion, ceremonies, and unit elections, typically run by chapter or lodge chairmen in these areas and held on the last morning of camp. The above passage was deleted, as was training itself, when the Manual was revised for Winter Camp IX, but training of a different sort returned at Winter Camp X as the first steps toward reviving the chapter dance team.
