Current Entry: The Great Purge
At Winter Camp XLIII, we held Winter Camp at Jack Lord cabin. This necessitated transporting totes and other gear from the attic of the Beaver Creek building to the floor of the Jack Lord building. Looking at the dizzying array of items, Doug Wilson and Steve Donohue decided we had too much stuff.
There was a combination of things we were never going to use at Winter Camp like a small toaster-oven and things where we had unnecessary duplicates (we measured jello molds in feet, for example).
Steve and Doug, with the help of other campers, sorted the gear into three piles: staying, going, and probably going. Items that were staying were needed for camp, items that were going were not, and probably going were items we weren't sure of. The probably group was given the weekette to prove themselves.
During setup day, Adam Haubenstricker's truck was loaded with boxes of items and taken to the Goodwill in Lapeer. At the end of the weekette, most of the items that had been in the probably camp were loaded up and taken home by the Wilsons for donation.
