Current Entry: Uncle Ethan's Craft Hour
Winter Camp XLI saw Ethan Rein assigned the honorific "Uncle" as he led campers through a craft session. Participants were guided through the steps of making secret boxes out of old books, which included several bound volumes of Transactions of the Society of Actuaries. Despite the necessary use of very sharp knives and the large participation ratio, no one was injured, which came as a small but welcome surprise.
At Winter Camp XLIII, the craft hour returned. This years craft was connected to the Winter Camp In Space theme and allowed each camper to make a wooden rocket which served as a place card for meals later in the weekette. Supplies for this project were contributed by Steve and Kristie Donohue, another example of Winter Camp drawing from the stock of the Oriental Trading Company. An act of service was performed by Chris Adams, who accepted the challenge of constructing a rocket for Roger Horn so that he might have a place to eat during the weekette.
