Current Entry: Through The Ages
"Through The Ages" was the theme of Winter Camp XXXVII, and mimicked the rise of civilization from its earliest hunter-gatherer stages as far toward the present as could be achieved in a single weekette. Day One saw campers evolve from the hunter-gatherer phase to a more agrarian society. Camp began with the Gatherer Lunch, which served very simple foodstuffs, and included firebuilding and a mastodon hunt as Winter Camp moved forward as a culture. Day Two was an agrarian day in the kitchen, with Some Sort of Stew the luncheon centerpiece and the Mexican Meal coming in the evening. Campers developed their skills in archery during the day, which closed with a clout shoot on the bridge crossing Silver Creek, with targets placed on the ice.
The Rush Was On on Day Three, where a resource hunt in the morning led to the dawning of a mercantile economy and Market Madness in the afternoon. The inventive spirit of Winter Campers advanced the growing civilization with numerous inventions. Evolution broke for a day as Day Four was dedicated to service, and Day Five brought camp back up to the present.
