Current Entry: String Maze

Winter Camp XXXVIII's String Maze built on the success of the Shipwrecked! event from Winter Camp XXX and the Rush Is ON! game from Winter Camp XXXVII. Participants were split into four groups and assigned to four entry points of a connected string maze. They were instructed to stay within an arm's length of each other and to follow strings. One adult was assigned to each team to ensure that it complied with the rules. Throughout the maze, caches were tied to the string, which were subsequently collected by the teams. They included access to the stove and oven, bowls, celery, cheese, cookies, crackers, bowls, canned mackerel, canned oysters, canned salmon, canned tuna, cups, plates, pots, spatulas, spoons, margarine, mayonnaise, store-bought bread, store-bought cookies, and tomato soup. These items were used to prepare the Hunter-Gatherer Meal later that afternoon.

The string maze was constructed on the setup Day by Jeff Rand and Dave Milon, who used about 12,000 feet of twine to create it. The food and supplies were added the morning of the hike by Jeff Rand and Ethan Rein. (ER)
