Current Entry: Scavenged Dinner
Desperate times-as, for example, when genetically-engineered dinosaurs run amok across the landscape-call for desperate measures, and when that desperation comes to the kitchen, you have culinary adventures like the Scavenged Dinner, which added on to the Jurassic World theme of Winter Camp XXXIX. Under times of great stress, it may be necessary to combine unusual ingredients to cobble together a meal, and so Winter Campers dined on such improvised foods such as peanut butter meatloaf, cinnamon peas, and chocolate mashed potatoes. While the quality of these three dishes may have been less than outstanding to some, it should be noted that everyone who went back for seconds on the meatloaf-Steve Donohue, Mike Osvath, and Doug Wilson-had attended Winter Camp I and so surely drew on their long experience with Winter Camp's culinary ups and downs when choosing to eat more.
Oddly, the desserts planned for this meal, chocolate cake and cherry pie, appeared not to have any incongruous ingredients in their recipes-but they found themselves joined by the cooks to create Winter Camp's first-ever piecaken.
