Piecaken-a pie baked inside a cake-was a highlight from the Winter Camp XXXIX kitchen served at the end of the Scavenged Dinner. Steve Donohue spotted this kitchen experiment on Facebook and immediately recognized it as a Winter Camp essential. Two flavors of piecaken were served with the Scavenged Dinner on Day Three: spice cake with apple pie and chocolate cake with cherry pie. Doug Wilson continued his fine decades-long service as Winter Camp's pie chef in preparing these dishes, and Kristie Donohue's ongoing culinary education advanced as she assisted him. The next frontier in nested cooking might lie in adding a third dessert treat to pie and cake. Piecacookieden, anyone?
