Steve Donohue took the idea of Jackpot Grits and turned it into a gift item distributed to several campers at Winter Camp XLI. A Grit Kit contains a variety of grits toppings and food coloring and a pair of dice for suitable randomization. So it is that the spirit of Winter Camp makes its way throughout the rest of the year.
For Winter Camp XLIV, the Grit Kit returned as part of the At Home Kit given to At Home participants. This version of the kit featured a square box with 9 small plastic cylinders each of which had a different ingredient. The ingredients were the typical assortment of sugary items plus coconut. There were also two vials of food color in each kit. The kits were again assembled by Steve Donohue. The leftovers from filling the kits were sent to camp. Plans at one point included a small measuring spoon but it was eventually scrapped when it became clear that it was difficult to make and only Steve appreciated the joke. (SD)
