Current Entry: 4-Way Dodgeball
4 Way Dodgeball was played at Winter Camp XLII. Despite the name, there were three teams that played. The game was held in the Trout Lake Pavilion, where picnic tables were rearranged to enclose the playing area and rules hastily determined to facilitate a three-handed dodgeball match. A four-sector court with "no man's land" in one part was laid out, and six balls were rolled out as the battle began, with the goal to notch 3 wins first in the head-to-head-to-head matches.
The goal of the game was to eliminate all players on opposing teams. Players were eliminated if they were hit by a ball thrown by another player who was standing in their team's zone or the zone open to all players. Balls were deemed "dead" if they hit the floor or any part of the pavilion structure. If a ball was caught, the player throwing the ball was eliminated and the team from which the player who caught the ball was allowed to bring back an eliminated member. Play continued until only players from a single team were left on the court. New Winter Camper Ryan Shork proved himself a capable anchor of his BRANNES team, as he was frequently the last player left on his court. He was, however, challenged to finish off his opponents, as the BRANNES squad could only manage a third-place finish. Grand Fenwick carried the day and captured the gold, with the Peoples Democratic Communist Republic of North Australiastan taking the day's second set of silver medals. (ER)
