Current Entry: Kane
Kane cabin, at Silver Trails Scout Reservation, was home to Winter Camp XXXVII. All campers were housed in this cabin, which can be divided into three separate rooms through the use of collapsible partitions, while the meals were served and most indoor activities held in the Rotary dining hall at Silver Trails.
Kane was originally an in-ground swimming pool, and the adults at Winter Camp XXXVII occupied the bunkroom that was built over the shallow end of the pool. When the summer camp program at Silver Trails was discontinued, the pool fell into disuse and spent three years sitting idle and housing an interesting array of biological specimens. When the pool was disassembled and the cabin built over it, the bathroom and shower facilities built for the swimming pool were repurposed to serve the new three-unit cabin. The small campmaster's cabin to the back of Kane originally served as the pump and filtration building for the pool.
