Current Entry: Fire Building
Following the Mastodon Hunt at Winter Camp XXXVII, campers continued their path down the evolution of society by embarking on a quest for fire. Two teams, based at Chippewa North and Chippewa South campsites, took on the challenge of building a fire without matches. The team to the South set out to use a fire piston to produce flame-they eventually succeeded, and burned 15 pounds of magnesium salvaged from a 1969 Volkswagen microbus engine and brought to camp by Doug Wilson.
