Winter Camp XV included the construction of a medieval siege weapon known as a trebuchet. Similar to a catapult in design, the Winter Camp weapon was built near the CAG Rock. When the time came for it to cast a stone skyward, its maximum range proved to be about 20 feet, thus rendering it less than useful for military purposes. This construction had been modeled at midnight on the night of the planning meeting, as three different groups assembled pieces for a scale model of the trebuchet. Miraculously, the pieces were compatible. Although it launched only a marble, the scale weapon fired the marble further than any of the shots made by the full-size trebuchet. (SD)
