Current Entry: Stove Fund
Winter Camp's 1998 fundraiser was inspired in a spring suggestion from Jeff Rand on The Wall that campers contribute funds toward the cost of a new stove for the Beaver Creek building, which was slated to undergo remodeling that year. The quest was officially launched in the summer, when Ron Donohue made the first contribution toward the estimated $1300 cost. A contribution of $5 per Winter Camp attended was originally suggested, but this was quickly cast aside when Ron suggested that campers select a number with personal meaning as their contribution, kicking in $6.66 per camp himself as an illustration. The anonymous non-camper Occasional Visitor made the first outside contribution, of $20.07. At Winter Camp XXII dawned, the fund had received 25 contributions (including three-from Steve Clark, Zach Polifroni, and OV-made by people who had never attended Winter Camp) totaling $1817.46. The stove was installed for Winter Camp XXII.
