Current Entry: Saving The Earth: Natural Disaster
On Day Three of Winter Camp XXXV, several teams of campers put their minds to work creating devices intended to save humanity from annihilation-real or imagined. In a twist on Genius Night, a collection of craft items was made available for this construction. The perils facing the Earth ranged from a bacon shortage to an approaching meteorite, and the machines intended to combat these threats were at once imaginative and occasionally practical. JJ The Jet Plane was a particularly intricate construction, and the walking alien-constructed by a representative of invading aliens-represented itself well. Also on the list on contraptions were an anti-meteorite device and a floating escape vessel.
As is so often the case at Winter Camp, the criteria by which projects were judged were not known in advance, and so, for all of the technological advancements suggested by the models, it was adherence to the Scout Oath and Law that was most important. Accordingly, the team building the Wolverines' bunker from the movie Red Dawn was awarded top honors.
