Winter Camp XXXVI kicked off with the "something old, something new" No-Hands Electric Lunch. The electric hot dog cooker first built for the 20th Anniversary Banquet in 1996 was pressed back into service for quick hot dog cooking. Campers were called to the serving counter by their birth months, running from December back to January, and the challenge then presented was to eat lunch-including chili dogs, potato chips, apples, and bug juice dubbed "the finest blue liquid I've drunk this year" by one veteran Winter Camper-without using one's hands. Gabe Church, Keith King, Jeff Rand, and Ethan Rein proved particularly adept at meeting this challenge, though none did so neatly. It was noted at the time that none of those four men currently had a girlfriend.
