Awarded for the first time at Winter Camp XXX, this award sponsored by Gordon Draper recognizes excellence in camp journalism. The first winner, and recipient of a Winter Camp pencil, was Spencer Nieten, for his article "Winter Camp Has Life Lessons Too!", which appeared in the December 31 issue of the Winter Camp XXX News.
