Encyclopedia WinterCampica - Cup O' Plenty
At Winter Camp XXVI, Trading Post soft drink sales included fountain service, with seven flavors (35 gallons total) of homemade pop brewed by Paul Kupser. In order to facilitate sales, Ron Donohue arranged for the manufacture of plastic cups bearing the inscription "Winter Camp Trading Post Cup o' Plenty" in blue on a white background. These cups were sold for $5, which granted the purchaser unlimited refills at the taps in the newly-created lounge in the BC building. The soft drinks proved to be a huge success-the Root Beer sold out in one hour on Day One. The other six beverages were raspberry, raspberry-kiwi, pink Lemonade, ginger ale, grape, and fruit Punch. The cups returned at Winter Camp XXVII, and Paul's brewing furnished the pop for the entire encampment. With market penetration approaching 100%, there was thought to be no need for canned pop on the menu or in the Trading Post.
Cups o' Plenty were retired for Winter Camp XXVIII, when technical difficulties necessitated a return to canned pop on the menu and at the Trading Post, but returned briefly at Winter Camp XXX. The cups were part of the soft drink service at the Trading Post, and the kegs of pop were commercial cola and Root Beer.
