The Chinese Poverty Banquet was a merger of the Ancient China theme of Winter Camp XXXVI with the fine tradition of Chinese buffet restaurants and the grim reality that four dishes is not exactly a banquet. Winter Camp adviser Ethan Rein ran the kitchen with a firm hand, and while the meal was somewhat delayed, it was well worth waiting for. General Cso's [sic] chicken was backed up by Fried Rice, Sweet and Sour Pork, and Fortune Cookies. The chicken was especially spicy, to the delight of some. Steve Donohue endorsed the meal less than an hour after it ended, saying "It lived up to the reputation of Chinese food; I'm already hungry again." The Fortune Cookies were prepared on-site and included fortunes that forecast the diner's lucky numbers and lucky food along with their fortune. Kristie Donohue and Mike Gambel both received the fortune " Beef Fizz can lead to a long and happy marriage"; Kristie knows this firsthand.
