Encyclopedia WinterCampica - Ron Donohue Day
In 1979, Ron Donohue saved the life of another Scout following a canoe accident on the Rifle River in April. He was nominated for and eventually received a Medal of Heroism.
He received accolades from a number of local civic groups culminating in a presentation by the Lincoln Park City Council where they declared the following day would be Ron Donohue Day.
We don't know if they realized that day was April 1, but we've certainly gotten our money's worth.
The Wall at wintercamp.com has always appended a message to anything posted on April 1. In 2021, this was taken a step further when most sites in the Winter Camp Network redirected to rondonohueday.com for the whole of April 1.
No word yet on whether the prank will continue into the future.
