Encyclopedia WinterCampica - Blind Volleyball
Winter Camp XXXIX's Blind Volleyball match pitted two teams against each other in a Volleyball game where the net was replaced with a tarp. The tarp had been used previously to make the "Welcome to Winter Camp" sign at Winter Camp XXXVI. "Blindness" comes into the game because each team is unable to see the opposing team. Poles used to suspend the tarp were made from fallen tree trunks found in the woods. Those poles were tied to picnic tables which were used to hold them up. The tarp was anchored to the poles at many points in order to keep it secure. Due to the blind nature of the game, points scored from serves were discounted. Points scored after a volley had started were not discounted.
Blind Volleyball and the RC Maze activities were held simultaneously. Participants were split into three groups; while one group's members worked through the RC Maze, the other two groups played Blind Volleyball.
