Encyclopedia WinterCampica - Moviemaking
While there had been video cameras at Winter Camp beginning at Winter Camp X, Winter Camp XIX was the first time that the schedule called for their formal inclusion. The Winter Camp XIX movie told the tale of a murder victim (played by Steve Donohue) uncovered on the shores of Beaver Lake and Lieutenant Colombo's (Dan Bollman) quest to find his killer. A twisted path was traced through the medical examiner's laboratory (where Mark Bollman--> and Ron Donohue switched from pursuing Ph.D.'s to pretending to hold M.D.'s) to the local Ancient Weapons Storage facility (Brian Mann: custodian) before a hermit (Jeff Rand) led the investigating team ( Mark Hunt, along with Dan) to Clearwater cabin, where a group of suspects (including Tom Ray) duked it out with the police force before succumbing. Scenes from the movie were posted on the Web site in 1998, and end credits were produced with PowerPoint as tapes were placed in limited release under the title "Winter Camp: The Movie". The movie resurfaced at the end of 2001 as the theme of the second Winter Camp calendar.
At Winter Camp XXVII, a movie based (very) loosely on After The Apocalypse was filmed and intended for distribution at Winter Camp's first DVD. While not released to DVD in 2004, the movie was made available at the Winter Camp Web site in November 2004 and was featured on the 2005 Winter Camp calendar produced by Kristie and Steve Donohue.
