| Description | We play chess in either single or double elimination format. |
| Basics | Probably best to learn the chess rules elsewhere. For our tournament maybe we'd have youth and adult brackets and randomly seed players who play a single game to choose a winner. If we did double elimination we'd have a losers bracket and eventually the winner of that bracket would take on the undefeated winner. The loser's bracket would have to win twice to take the tournament. |
| Why is this something we want to do? | Chess is a nice strategic challenge. |
| Variations: | There are a great many chess variants from board shapes to cards and additional rules. We could also play Khet which is an Egyptian-themed laser chess. |
| Equipment List: | Chess Sets Printed Brackets Tool for seeding players. |
| Mitigated Risk: | IIIE (Details) |
